Valerie Kay Owens

May 12, 1957 — June 8, 2026

Maryville, Missouri

Valerie “Kay” Owens passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on June 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Kay was born May 12, 1957, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Randy Owens, on September 10, 1977. Together, they built their life on a farm outside Maryville, Missouri.

She held several jobs throughout her life, but her favorites were photography and her work for the Maryville Daily Forum. She loved hunting and spending time outdoors. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren, and her favorite title was Nana/Nannie. She never missed a ball game, garage sale, or a chance to bring home a new animal. Everything she did, she did with love and “bling”. She had the biggest heart and was a friend to all, always there with a helping hand. Caring, selfless, and as stubborn as they come, Kay will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law, and brother Willard Shimel.

Survivors include her husband, Randy Owens; children Renee (Todd) Willis, Selena (Travis) Foreman, Dillon (Miranda) Owens, and Shane Owens; sister Jackie (Randy) Campbell, brother Russell Mortenson, and sister-in-law Judy (Bob) Johnson; grandchildren Brooke Sharp, Alexander Willis, Justin Willis, Alexis (Caitlyn) O’Riley, Tori Willis, Hope Willis, Dawson Willis, Kolton Foreman, Christian (Haylie) Foreman, and Reed and Rylee Owens; great-grandchildren Channing O’Riley, Benny King, and Amelia Stratton; and many friends.

Arrangements are under the care of Bram Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 15, from 5-7 pm at Bram Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be directed to Bram Funeral Home for the family.
