Raymond G. Wilmes, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on May 13th, 1934, in Maryville, Missouri, Raymond spent his entire life in the community he cherished.
A dedicated farmer, Raymond worked tirelessly on his land in Maryville, Missouri. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family and faith. A proud veteran, Raymond served his country honorably in the United States Army.
Raymond was a man of many passions. He was a faithful Catholic who attended church regularly, even while traveling. He found joy in piloting his airplane, biking, golfing, bowling, skiing, and gardening. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Roberta Wilmes, of the home; his sons, Tim (Mary Welch) Wilmes of Conception Jct., MO, and Ted (Marsha) Wilmes of Maryville, MO; his daughters, Sheila Schafer of Maryville, MO, Sharon Schroeder of Joplin, MO, and Stacy (Bill) Emery of Maryville, MO. He is also survived by his brothers, Charlie (Louise Sticken) Wilmes, Philip (Karen) Wilmes, Tom (Sharon) Wilmes, and Ken (Marilyn) Wilmes, all of Maryville, MO; his sisters, Louise O'Connell of Colorado Springs, CO, Geraldine (Jack) Ulmer of Wichita, KS, and Pauline Bjornsrod of Ft. Myers, FL. Raymond was a proud grandfather to Spencer, Samantha, Taylor, Jessica, Ashlie, Tyson, Trevin, Baleigh, Jacquelyn, Clayton, Nicholas, Skylar, Sophia, Lillian, Will, Alisa, and Kylie, and a great-grandfather to 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Herman Wilmes and Gertrude Ellen Wilmes (Hiatt), as well as his siblings Bernard Wilmes, Alfred Wilmes, Richard Wilmes, Rita Stamps, Joe Wilmes, Helen Joyce, Jerry Wilmes, Deloris Spire, and his son-in-law, Daniel Schafer.
A Rosary will be held at St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish in Maryville, MO, on Sunday, February 15th, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm, followed by a visitation from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at the same location on Monday, February 16th, 2026, at 10:00 am with a burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Maryville, MO. Pallbearers will include Spencer McGinness, Taylor Emery, Tyson Emery, Nicholas Schroeder, Will Emery, and Kyle Metcalf.
Arrangements are being handled by Bram Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Gregory's Building Fund. Raymond's legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he served so faithfully.
