Randy Jon Lessman

Randy Jon Lessman, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at his home in Maryville, MO. Born on December 28, 1953, in Kearney, Nebraska, Randy lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love.

Randy attended University of Nebraska, where he showcased his athletic prowess on the football field. As a Cornhusker, he played for legendary coach, Tom Osborne, in the Cotton Bowl, Sugar Bowl and Fiesta Bowl. He was awarded the Special Teams MVP. His talent and dedication led him to play for the Vikings and Steelers in the NFL. He was a junior Olympic champion in shot put and discus. He was a National HS All-American in 1971, was a State Champion discuss thrower in 1971 and 1972 and was the Drake Relays Champion in 1972. His remarkable contributions to the sport of football were recognized with his induction into the Iowa High School Football Hall of Fame.

After his illustrious sports career, Randy channeled his energy and passion into entrepreneurship, owning and operating Lessman Electric Supply. His hard work and commitment to excellence were evident in every aspect of his business.

Randy was a devoted family man, survived by his children, Ryan (Kara) Lessman of Maryville, MO, and Carrie Lessman of Sioux City, IA. He was grandfather to Kyran and Raelynn Lessman and Mikinzie Kellen. Randy is also survived by his brother, Harlan (Bev) Lessman of Sioux City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Helen Lessman, and his sister, Cindy Westeen.

Beyond his professional and athletic achievements, Randy was a great coach and mentor to his children, instilling in them the values of hard work and perseverance. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories he created with his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Bram Funeral Home in Maryville, MO, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Family, friends, and all whose lives were enriched by Randy are invited to attend and share in the celebration of his remarkable life.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
