Patricia Irene (Merrigan) Archer, 94, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence, Kansas.
Born September 25, 1930, in Conception, Missouri, to Patrick and Irene (McLaughlin) Merrigan, Patricia graduated from Jefferson High School and married Donald Edward Archer in 1948.
They farmed in the area until 1951 when Donald was called back to active duty in the US Navy. They moved to Iowa in 1960 where Patricia graduated from Mount Mercy College and began working as a home economist for the REC in Anamosa.
She and Don also farmed with their 5 children in Amber, Iowa and Don worked for the IRS. He retired from the IRS in 1980, and they opened Archer Tax Service together. In 1999, they retired to Maryville, Missouri, where they became active members of St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church. In 2022, Patricia moved to Lawrence, Kansas.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother – and each role was important to her. She was an avid sewer and quilter, a refinisher of furniture, a volunteer at the local hospital, soup kitchen and St. Gregory’s, and will be remembered for her love and energy and patience.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Donald F. Archer, infant son, Patrick James, her parents, brothers, Donald and William, sisters Anna, Jeannie, Eulalia (Schieber), Lucia (Munsch), Winnie (Stark), and Veronica (Dorrel).
Survivors include children and spouses: P.V. and Diane Archer, Sarasota, Florida, Donna and Norman Faye, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Nancy and Greg Rehkamp, Sarasota, Florida, Jennie and Mike Atwood, Lawrence, Kansas, and Patrick and Linda Archer, Huntington Beach, California, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Cecelia Meyer, Stanberry, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a parish and family Rosary at 4:30 PM, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at St. Gregory’s Bargarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, Missouri, with the visitation following until 6:30 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, on Friday, July 25, 2025, at St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church. The burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Conception, Missouri.
Services are under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
Memorial donations may be made in Patricia’s name to St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church School, 333 S. Davis Street, Maryville, Missouri 64468.
