Michael Wayne Stump

Michael Wayne Stump, beloved husband and father, passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 71 at Saint Lukes Hospital.

Mike was born on June 5, 1955 in Maryville, Missouri to Robert and Lois Stump. He grew up in Barnard, Missouri and made Hopkins, Missouri his home.

He married the love of his life, Linda (Roberts) Stump, on January 22, 1978, they were married for 48 years. They built their life around their children Nakia, Krista, and Kaylee, who he loved dearly. His world revolved around his four granddaughters, Kelsey Ann Barcus, Addalea Grace Barcus, Ava JoLynne Stump and Sutton Ann Stump and beloved dog, Maggie.

Mike made a career of driving semis and was the proud owner of Stump Trucking. Outside of trucking and activities with his grandchildren, he had a lot of hobbies that he enjoyed with his family. He loved horses, restoring old tractors, putting up hay, tractor pulling, collecting hats, fishing, and tending to the garden. He was known for his willingness to help anyone, whether they were family, a friend, or a complete stranger. His granddaughters remember him by his loving nature, his protective instinct that had no boundaries, and his stubbornness that carries on in each one of them. If you knew him, you knew he had an ornery personality and smile that kept everyone on their toes, and the special way that he could make anyone around him laugh. He never failed to light up a room.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife Linda Stump, his children who he cherished deeply Nakia (Racheal) Stump, Krista (Scott) Barcus, Kaylee (Daniel) Mackey. His siblings Kimberly (Guy) Ridenhour, Katina Thompson, Kendra (Hakeem) Bean and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mike was proceeded in death by his father Robert Wayne Stump (2013) and his mother Lois Mildred (Landess) Stump (1994).

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th from 6:00-8:00 at Laura Street Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st at 2:00. The burial will be held at the Hopkins Cemetery immediately following the service.
