Michael Dean Hamm, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on Saturday, June 7th, 1947, in Topeka, Kansas, Michael was a cherished resident of Maryville, MO, where he spent his later years surrounded by family and friends.

Michael's life was marked by dedication and service. After earning an under graduate degree in business as an ROTC candidate from Washburn University and a Master's from the University of California at Sacramento, he served his country with honor in the United States Air Force for ten years. Following his military service, Michael embarked on a distinguished 22-year career as a Nuclear Power Plant Security Manager with Nebraska Public Power, retiring in 1999.

On February 8, 1969, Michael married the love of his life, Marilyn, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Michael was a devoted father to his daughter, Paula Sue Benson of Grain Valley, MO, and a proud grandfather to Cale Dean Benson (Kelli) and Kori Lynn Twaddle (Matt). His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he adored every moment spent with them.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; daughter, Paula Sue Benson; brothers, Paul Hamm and Phillip Hamm (Greta); sister, Lori Ann Wishert; and his treasured grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Dean Hamm and Viola Mae Hamm, and his sister, Jeanette Hamm.

A man of many interests, Michael was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing slow pitch softball. He found joy in visiting casinos, working in his yard, and cheering for Northwest Bearcat football and basketball, as well as Kansas State football. Michael was also a passionate reader and loved solving crossword puzzles. His two tom cats were his constant companions, and he took great pride in home improvement projects throughout his life.

Visitation will be held at Bram Funeral Home in Maryville, MO, on Thursday, December 18th, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Pallbearers will include Cale Benson, Matt Twaddle, and Mike Nowak. Burial will follow at Miriam Cemetery in Maryville, Missouri.

Michael Dean Hamm will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his zest for life. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the care of Bram Funeral Home.
