Mary Alice Ross, a beloved member of the Maryville, Missouri community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on August 18th, 1928, in Pickering, Missouri, Mary lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to others.
Mary was the cherished daughter of the late Raymond S. Carmichael and Mabel Irene Carmichael. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Derril Ross, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of over 60 years, having wed on June 24, 1945, in Troy, Kansas. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dwayne Carmichael, her son, Terry Ross, her granddaughter, Staci Renee Ross, and her great-grandsons, Noah Tolbert, Cameron Liess and Calvin Liess
Mary is survived by her devoted children: sons Gary (Lou) Ross of Maryville, MO, Michael (Barbara) Ross of St. Joseph, MO, David (Melissa) Ross of Savannah, MO, and Eric Ross of Maryville, MO; her daughter, Tina (Tim) Deen of Maryville, MO; and her daughter-in-law, Mary L. Ross of Maryville, MO. She is also survived by her brother, James "Buck" Carmichael of Maryville, MO, and her sisters, Louise Davis of Gardner, KS, Barbara Roush of Hopkins, MO, and Carol Peters of Maryville, MO. Mary was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren with two more on the way, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great-great-grandchild.
Mary dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Saint Francis Hospital early in her career before spending her last 10 years serving at Beverly Enterprise. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her career, as she was known for her love of gardening, cooking, baking, reading, and solving crossword puzzles. Her home was a welcoming haven, often serving as the neighborhood gathering spot where friends and neighbors felt at ease. Her legacy of caring and compassion was evident in every role she embraced, from sibling to spouse, mother to grandmother, and friend to caregiver. As a member of the First Baptist Church Mary was a devoted Christian, she loved Jesus with her heart, soul and mind.
Visitation will be held at Bram Funeral Home in Maryville, MO, on Saturday, March 21st, 2026, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am in the same chapel. The burial will take place after at Miriam Cemetery in Maryville, MO. Pallbearers honoring Mary’s life will be Tony Fletchall, Charles Tewell, Jason McQuinn, Andy Shumake, Connor Nicholas, and Dannen Merrill.
Mary Alice Ross will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her community. Her kindness, generosity, and dedication to others have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Arrangements are under the care of Bram Funeral Home.
