Marie Twaddle passed from this life and was delivered into the hands of her Lord on Sunday May 31, 2026 at the age of 93 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family. Marie was born May 19, 1933 in College Springs, Iowa to Marjorie Dow Livengood and Eurod Olin Livengood.
A 1951 graduate of Elmo, MO high school where she excelled in Volleyball and was named Queen of the Chieftain yearbook. She was also won first runner-up as Nodaway County Fair Queen in 1950.
In 1952 at the Methodist Church of Elmo, Marie was united in marriage with Bruce Twaddle, Sr. From this union five children were born. Tragically, Marie lost the love of her life, Bruce, in 1968 and raised all five of their children as a single mother. She was assisted by strong family support, the loving community of Maryville and a deep faith in Christ.
Her children were raised to be competitors and taught to seek the prize of victory.. Maryville High School wrestling fans fought for best viewing seats, not of wrestling but of Marie’s wild antics as she cheered her sons (PTLP).
Laughter, Love and great food filled Marie’s home. When grandchildren arrived she became the matriarch of goodness and love. Known as “Grandma Honey” her home was the destination of all children on Halloween where she struck fear in their hearts and filled their baskets with the best treats. She loved with an immeasurable ferocity.
Marie (Grandma Honey) is survived by a multitude of family, the truest testament to her legacy: One sister; Connie (Gary) Marriott, and a brother-in-law Paul Ellison. Her five children; Patrice (Gene) Lager, Bruce (Polly) Twaddle, Shelly (Kavin) Dew, Bryan (Sheri) Twaddle, Brad (Soheyla) Twaddle and “adopted” son, Chuck (Janet) Warden. She has17 Grandchildren; Melisa (Brad) Lager, Kristi (Matt) Ryan, Ryan (Billy) Lager, Amber (Matt) Andre, Trent (Amanda) Twaddle, Micah (Joshua) Cogan, Teal (Kassidy) Twaddle, Spencer (Andi) Twaddle, Davey (Cindy) Wilson, Tara (Monty) Kroeze, Tyler Wilson, Will (Amanda) Twaddle, Blair (Molly) Twaddle, Matt (Kori) Twaddle, Brooke Twaddle, Kathleen Twaddle and Owen Twaddle.
