Marcia Kay Carter, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29th, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on September 12th, 1954, in Maryville, MO, Marcia spent her life surrounded by the love of her family and the warmth of her community.

Marcia was a graduate of Iowa Western Community College and North West Missouri State University. Her passion for cooking and her entrepreneurial spirit led her to become a successful restaurant operator, where she delighted many with her culinary creations. As a self-employed businesswoman, Marcia was known for her dedication and hard work.

Her love for cooking was matched only by her love for her family. Marcia is survived by her sons, Brian (Jeannie Isaacs) Doss of Joplin, MO, Douglas Scott Carter of Joplin, MO, Shane (Sharon) Shandera of Friend, NE, and Montana Willis of Joplin, MO. She also leaves behind her cherished sisters, Karen Mattioda, Rhonda Atkins, Connie Davis, and Bonnie McCall, as well as five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Marcia was preceded in death by her loving parents, Donald Ray Carter and Cathryn Louellen Carter, her sisters Donna Kowalewycz and Holly Rauch, and her brother Carl Daniel Carter.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Marcia had a zest for life that was evident in her many interests. She enjoyed sewing, chasing after her children, traveling, and taking leisurely Sunday drives. Her love for chocolate was well-known among her family and friends.

Marcia's life was a testament to the joy of simple pleasures and the importance of family. Her warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home. A burial will be held at a later date at Graham Cemetery in Graham, MO.
