Lora Lea Acklin, 65, of Maryville, MO, was born on May 9, 1960, in Maryville, MO. She was raised by her parents, Lowell L. and Viola Acklin (Peery) in Graham, MO. She passed away at home in Maryville, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, with family at her side.
Lora graduated from Nodaway Holt High School, Graham, Missouri, in 1978.
She attended cosmetology school in St. Joseph where she later worked at Chuck's Hair Salon for 10 years.
In 1989 she decided she wanted to serve her country and joined the Air National Guard in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Lora accomplished a wonderful career where she acquired an Associate's Degree in Safety, Administration, and Business. Lora received several career awards including the 139th Airlift Wing Unit Career Advisor Professional Training and Development course, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Force Achievement Medal for her organizational skills were essential during Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
The distinguished accomplishments of Master Sergeant Acklin culminated as a long and distinguished career in the service of her country and reflect credit upon herself, the Air National Guard, and the United States Air Force.
Proceeding her in death were her parents.
Surviving siblings are Alan M. Acklin, Carolyn (Dale) Buhman, and a very special cousin, Pat Myers, who all loved her and will miss her.
A visitation will be held on October 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Bram Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM.
The burial with full military rites will follow in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, Missouri.
