Lisa Gay Smeltzer, 61, of Maryville, Missouri passed from this life into the arms of Jesus at home with family at her side on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 after an extended illness.
Lisa was born on December 27, 1962 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to James and Naoma Smeltzer. She graduated from Maryville High School, held a Bachelors Degree in Theater and Masters in Business Administration from Northwest Missouri State University. Lisa served as the Office Administrator of the First Christian Church in Maryville for 25 years before retiring in May 2023. In addition to work, she also served as Church Clerk for the First Baptist Church of Maryville as well as Secretary for the Maryville Ministry Center and Nodaway Chorale.
Lisa loved the Lord, her family and her Church family. In her service to the Lord she would dress up as one of her many characters for Slime Time, VBS or in the AWANA Cubbies class. When not dressing up she used puppets to entertain the crowds and share the Gospel whether it be at a Nursing Home, the Senior Center or at Church. Her love for God, others and life was so obvious and genuine. Lisa will be missed by her family and the people that she worked beside in ministry.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, James Smeltzer, grandparents Frank and Mary Margaret Smeltzer and Frank and Lorena Chambers.
She is survived by her mother, Naoma Smeltzer of Maryville, brother Mark Smeltzer (Kim) of Kansas City, Missouri, sister Sherry Barnes of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, nephews Matt Barnes (Beth) of Manford, Oklahoma, Andrew Barnes (Laura) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Noah Smeltzer of Kansas City, Missouri and great-nephew Franklin Barnes.
