Kathleen Beatrice (McQuinn) Schafer, 88, of Skidmore, Missouri, passed from this life on Friday, April 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family on the farm where they were raised.
Kathleen was born and grew up on her parent’s farm near Conception, Missouri, on September 4, 1935. They were Hubert and Stephanie (Steinhauser) McQuinn. She was a lifelong northwest Missouri resident.
Kathleen graduated from Jefferson High School in Conception. She was a mother and farm wife, raising her children and helping her husband on the farm.
On April 30, 1955, Kathleen was united in marriage to Herman Richard Schafer, at the Abbey Basilica, Conception, Missouri. He passed away after 48 years of marriage.
Besides her husband and parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her siblings, Vincent McQuinn, Gerald McQuinn, Francis McQuinn, and Maurice McQuinn, her sister, Sister Mary Hubert McQuinn, her sons, Donald Schafer, Anthony Schafer and Richard Schafer, her grand-daughter, Carissa Schafer. and her son in law, Scott Gallagher.
She was a member and attended St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, and St. Gerard Circle of the church. She loved family get-togethers, visits on the front porch, gardening, quilting and the KC Royals.
She leaves behind her children, Stephanie (Timothy) Woolery, Linda Gallagher, Teresa (Mike) Davis, Ronald (Lori) Schafer, Joseph Schafer (Pam Kirkendall), Raymond Schafer, and Daniel (Sheila) Schafer, her sister, Joan Luke, her brother, Stephen McQuinn, her daughter in law, Linda Schafer, and her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, her sister in laws, Mary Hernandez, Clara Johnson, Dorothy Mullinax, Karen Schafer, Carole Schafer, Marilyn Schafer and Dorothy Schafer, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, Missouri. The burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maryville, Missouri.
The family will receive friends at the Church starting at 10:00 AM, on Thursday prior to the service.
Services are under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri
