Joetta Lee Lyle

Joetta Lee Lyle, a cherished resident of Burlington Junction, Missouri (recent resident of Chateau Assisted Living, Maryville, MO), passed away on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on February 5th, 1943, in Maryville, Joetta lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.

Joetta was a proud member of the first graduating class of West Nodaway, Class of 1961. She married the love of her life, Samuel Ray. Lyle, on October 2, 1961. Together they built a beautiful family and life. Joetta worked as a clerical worker at Dempsey Harden LP Oil and MFA Oil, where she was known for her diligence and warm, friendly demeanor.

A lifelong lover of nature with a special interest in horses, Joetta and her husband raised quarter horses and were active members of the Burlington Junction, MO Hoof and Horn Saddle Club. She was also a dedicated 4H leader and sponsor, guiding and supporting her children through their 4H journeys. Joetta had a "green thumb" and took great joy in gardening, crafting, and attending craft shows, estate & antique sales and hitting the thrift shops with her gal pals.. Joetta had a love for gospel and country music. She had quite a laugh and a most memorable loud whistle that could draw people & her horses in for dinner from a mile away..

Joetta was a town and family historian, a great cook, and always lent a helping hand with funeral lunches. She cherished her coffee dates with friends and was a beloved figure in her community.

Joetta is survived by her son, Janford "Jan" Ray Lyle of Maryville, MO, and her daughter, Jennifer Jillinda "Jill" (David) Kranda of Fort Worth, TX. She also leaves behind her brothers, Max Harden of Burlington Junction, MO, Biff (Sandra) Harden of Maryville, MO, and Rex (Nancy) Johnson of Nevada; her sister, Lynette Johnson of Nevada; and her brother-in-law, Roy Ed Lyle of Maryville, MO. Joetta was a proud grandmother to Kevin S. Kranda and Kelli M. Kranda, and a beloved aunt to 5 nieces, 1 nephew, 5 great-nieces, and 8 great-nephews. She is also survived by several cousins and many dear friends.

Joetta was preceded in death by her father, Rex Burl Johnson. Her parents, Marilyn & Wilford Harden; her husband, Samuel Ray Lyle; an infant sister; her brother, Jeff Harden; her sisters-in-law,Sharon Brown, Mary Ellen Lyle, Julia Lyle, and Donna Harden; her niece, Shelley Buckles; and nephew Scott Buckles.

A visitation will be held at Bram Funeral Home in Maryville, MO, on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at First Christian Church in Burlington Junction, MO, on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Ohio Cemetery in Burlington Jct., MO. Arrangements are provided by Bram Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Burlington Jct., MO or the Nodaway County Historical Society in Maryville, MO.

Joetta Lee Lyle will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, laughter, and community spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
