Ignacia Melendrez

Born on August 29, 1935, in Separ, New Mexico, passed peacefully on September 18, 2026, surrounded by her family in Maryville, Missouri, she was 91.

She lived in Lordsburg and Deming New Mexico. She spent her last year living in Maryville with her sisters Manuela and Socorro at her niece’s home (Cecilia and Doug Gallagher).

She was a caregiver to her parents and her sister Socorro. Over the years she helped her family in many ways including in the care of her many nieces and nephews of all ages.

She enjoyed watching sports and was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys. She crafted many beautiful embroidery items, was an amazing cook and a favorite pastime was listening to Spanish Christian music.

She was a great historian for the family and shared many wonderful memories over the years. Her laughter, gentle nature, wisdom and Godly character was a tribute to her strong faith and her belief and love for our savior Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her Sisters: Manuela (Roger+) Andres, Socorro Melendrez of Maryville, Mo, and Hortencia Melendrez of Deming, NM. Brothers: Antonio (Edith+) Melendrez of Atwater, CA, Salvador (Linda) of Omaha, NE, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents: Ambrocio and Maria (Belarde) Melendrez, sisters: Emma & Lucio Chavez and Ofelia & Pedro Gallosa, brothers: Luciano & Concepcion Montanez.

Graveside services will be planned for a future date, when her ashes are transported to Deming, NM for burial.
