Helen "Katie" Kathleen Stiens, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Born on January 25, 1943, in Conception, Missouri, Katie lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.Katie was a graduate of Conception Junction High School and furthered her education at Casters Beauty Academy. She dedicated her career to caring for others as a health care provider, a role in which she touched many lives with her kindness and compassion.
Katie's love for cooking was well-known, with her pies and homemade noodles being family favorites. Along with being an exceptional cook, she had a green thumb and took great pride in her large garden, filled with vibrant plants and flowers. Her greatest joy, however, was her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she cherished every moment and activity. Katie also enjoyed visiting casinos and trying her luck at the slots, always with a smile and a hopeful spirit.
Katie is survived by her devoted husband, Joe A. Stiens of Maryville, MO; her children, Brad (Susie) Stiens of Center, CO, Tina (Mo) Stiens of St. Joseph, MO, and Sue (Robert) Wooten of Maryville, MO. She also leaves behind her brothers, Joe (Patty) Stoll and Jimmy (Betsy) Stoll; sisters, Mary Ann (Manuel) DeléTore and Carolyn Westfall; sister-in-law Evelyn Stoll; grandchildren; Jennifer, Zane (Chelsae) Stiens, Christy, Joseph, Krystal, Alex, Katielynn, and Remington; great grandchildren; Isaiah, Xavier, Quentin, Karsyn, Serenity, Trinity, Joseph, Kayslee, Kolton, Natalie and Joslynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Fredrick Stoll and Helen Beatrice Stoll; her daughter, Sheila Kay Stiens; her brother, Robert Stoll; her parents-in-law, Ed and Elsie Stiens; brothers-in-law Bob Westfall, Francis Stiens, and John Stiens; sister-in-law: Mary Katherine Watowa, and her nephew, Brian Stiens.
A Rosary will be held at St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish in Maryville, MO, on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm, followed by a visitation from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same parish on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery following the service.
Pallbearers will include Isaiah Bottorff, Xavier Bottorff, Zane Stiens, Remington Wooten, Alex Stiens, and Alan Salter. Honorary pallbearers are Katielynn Wooten, Krystal Salter, Jennifer Stiens, and Christy Stiens.
Arrangements are being handled by Bram Funeral Home. Katie's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. Katie's legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Gregory's Building Fund and the St. Gregory's Catholic School.
