Donald Gene Major, 90, of Burlington Junction, MO passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024. at Mosaic Life Care, St Joseph, Missouri.
Donald was born in Holton, Kansas, on August 23, 1933. to Edison M. and Lillie May (McMurtry) Major. He grew up in Westboro, Missouri. Then in the 1960's after Donald had gotten out of the service, he moved to Burlington Junction, Missouri.
He was a graduate of Westboro Missouri High School, Class of 1952. He had been a farmer all of his life.
On September 23, 1953, in Rockport, Missouri, Donald was united in marriage with Terry Florence Robinson, they were married until her death on May 11, 2013.
Donald proudly served his Country in the Korean Conflict, stationed in Guam in the US Army with the 822 Combat Engineer Battalion from 1953 to 1955 and was Honorably discharged as a Corporal.
Donald had attended the Hope Lutheran Church, Maryville. He was a member of the Dick Munkers American Legion Post #287, Savannah, Missouri. He was also a member of the former WW Club of Burlington Junction and had spent 12 years on the West Nodaway Board of Education.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Florence, and son, Terry Don Major and his 5 brothers Jim, (twins) Clem and Clarence, Eddie, and Vernon.
He leaves behind his children, Sandra (Lee) Rohlmeier, Burlington Junction, Missouri and Randy (Cathy) Major, Savannah, Missouri, Debby Major Knight (James) of Texarkana Tx. His grandchildren and great grandchildren, Matthew Rohlmeier, Bracxten, Skyler Rohlmeirer, Brayden, Joe, Logan, Brook Lynn, Bryant (Kristina) Major, Caysen, and Delaney, Brylee Major, Beth (Sean) Johnson, Jadon and Kenzie, Ben (Emmie) Reine, Lucas, Jill (Randy) Smith, Sky (Molly) Smith, Hallie (Hunter) Flood, Gunner and Jagger, Mandy Major, Markus, Darius Major, and Samia Muldrow, Aaron Major, Jordan, Lukus, and TJ, Katey (Jason) Stagg, Brentley, Sutton, and Cole and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services and burial will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Clearmont, Missouri. Full Military burial rites will be given.
No formal visitation is planned.
Services are under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
Memorials are suggested to the Dick Munkers American Legion Post #287, PO Box 186, Savannah, Missouri 64485.
