Deanne Louise Cordell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Deanne Louise Cordell, a beloved fiancé, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Deanne passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, in Saint Joseph, Missouri, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 18th, 1969 in Maryville, Missouri to Fred and Doris Schieber.

Deanne is survived by her devoted fiancé, Jeff Laffen of Saint Joseph, MO, and her loving children: sons Jakob (Kailey Miller) Cordell of Skidmore, MO, William (Rebecca Johnson) Cordell of Quitman, MO, and Benjamin Cordell of Skidmore, MO; and daughters Lora (Tree) Johnson of Overland Park, KS, and Emily (Brandon) Niendick of Wellington, MO. She also leaves behind her treasured brothers, David Schieber and Kevin (Rosemary) Schieber, and sisters, Linda Berry, Teresa (Patrick) Maline, and Sheila (Daniel) Kizer. Additionally, Deanne is survived by her caring mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Don Cordell, and her supportive sisters-in-law, Glenda (Jeff) Long, and Judy (Randy) Freuh.

Deanne's legacy lives on in her cherished grandchildren: Noah, Lucas, and Maggie, with a fourth grandchild soon to join the family. She was also a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, of 28 years, Jeff Cordell; her grandson, Hayden Niendick; her sister, Ellen Cottrell; and her sister-in-law, Christine Schieber.

A graduate of Northeast Nodaway in 1987, Deanne went on to earn a Business degree from NWMSU in 1991, where she played the flute throughout her collegiate years. Professionally, Deanne was a dedicated Case Manager for Nodaway County Services in Maryville, Missouri, where she was known for her compassion and commitment to helping others.

Deanne had a profound love for her children and grandchildren; any time spent with them was precious to her. She found joy in hunting for antiques and treasured the memories of traveling with Jeff. Her kind heart and giving nature were evident to all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Bram Funeral Home in Maryville, MO. A funeral service to celebrate Deanne's life will take place at Laura Street Baptist Church on Thursday, May 28th, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Quitman Cemetery.

Arrangements are being provided by Bram Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the Jeffrey Scott Cordell memorial scholarship fund which will be renamed the Jeffrey and Deanne Cordell Memorial Scholarship Fund.
