Connie Jo Ury, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21st, 2025, Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville, MO. Born on June 10th, 1953, in Smithville, MO, Connie lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community.
Connie is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Ury, of the home; her three cherished daughters, Lauri Valenta and husband Jeremy of Seattle, WA, Andrea Sandusky of Maryville, MO, and Jennifer Tinsley and husband Alex of Las Vegas, NV. She also leaves behind her brother, John "Mark" Carver, and her two adored grandsons, Ambrose and Maverick Sandusky-Ury. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, John Earl and Joan Carver, and her brother, Russell Carver.
A lifelong learner and educator, Connie earned her Master's Degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State University. She dedicated 30 years of her professional life as a Reference Librarian at the same institution, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. Her passion for education extended beyond the library as she served as a pastor for 17 years at the United Methodist Church of Graham and Maitland, guiding her congregation with wisdom and compassion.
Connie was an active member of her community, having been a former member of the Beta Sigma Phi Social Sorority and an advisor for the Alpha Omega Pi Sorority at NWMSU. She also served as the Homecoming Chair for NWMSU in the mid-1970s, showcasing her leadership and school spirit.
In her personal life, Connie found joy in camping with her family, a tradition that evolved from tent camping to motorized RV adventures with her husband, particularly enjoying winters in Texas. She was an avid writer, reader, and seamstress, often creating matching outfits for her daughters for every holiday—a labor of love that she cherished, even if her daughters did not always share her enthusiasm.
Connie's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, love for her family, and commitment to her community. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home. A celebration of Connie's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the indelible mark she left on the world.
