Betty Jo Olson, 96, of Elmo, Missouri, passed from this life on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, with family at her side. 
 
Betty was born in Elmo, on October 2, 1928, and was a life-long resident of the area. Her parents were William Benjamin and Mae (Colvin) McIntyre. She graduated from Elmo high school in 1946 and attended college for one year. 
 
She taught school near Elmo for one year, before becoming a housewife and farm wife. After her children were raised, she provided home care, cooking and cleaning for several families in the Elmo and Burlington Junction, Missouri area. 
 
On January 25, 1947, Betty was united in marriage to Douglas Arvid Olson. He preceded her in death in 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Dean (Kathryn) McIntyre, Bob (Marie) McIntyre, Barbee (Harold) Hall, her brother-in-laws, Jim Gipe, and Bob Huff, two grandchildren, and a great grandson.
 
Betty liked to be outdoors. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable garden. She also liked quilting, China painting, sewing and to crochet blankets that she would donate to area organizations. 
 
She was a member and attended the Elmo United Methodist Church. She was an active volunteer at church and was in the church women’s society. 
 
She leaves behind her children, Charlotte Ann “Jackie” (Gary) McIntyre, Maryville, Missouri, Betty Lou Clements, Maryville, Missouri, Darrell (Laurie) Olson, Cedar Edge, Colorado, Donald “Skip” (Sharlys) Olson, St. Joseph, Missouri. Kay Haith, Omaha, Nebraska, May (Donald) Anciaux, Iowa City, Iowa, and Nancy (Tom) Patton, Craig, Missouri, her sister, Bonnie Gipe, Grant City, Missouri, sister-in-law, Onalea Huff, 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 
 
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri. The burial will be in the High Prairie Cemetery, Elmo, Missouri. 
 
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. 
Memorials are suggested to the New Nodaway Humane Society, Maryville, Missouri, or the Elmo United Methodist Church, or the Elmo Community Betterment Club.
