It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry Douglas Walker, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, who left us on Tuesday, October 6th, 2026, at the age of 80. Barry was born on November 8th, 1945, in Maryville, Missouri.
Barry was the son of the late Merle Alfred Walker and Dorothy Evelyn Walker. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Leon Walker. He is survived by his devoted sister, Merlene Walker of Overland Park, KS, and his cherished nieces, Alyssa Walker of Cosby, MO, and April (Ryan) Allen of Citrus Heights, CA.
A proud alumnus of Missouri University, Barry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. Barry served as City Clerk in Barnard, MO, and his commitment to public service and his community was unwavering.
In his younger years, Barry was a talented jazz drummer, playing with his band, The Knock Abouts. His love for music was only rivaled by his affection for cats, who were his constant companions later in life.
Barry's warmth, humor, and kindness touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of service, music, and love for animals will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home. There will be a burial at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Barnard American Legion Cemetery in Barnard, MO.
